Maternity & Newborn Photos

Maternity Photos
I recommend scheduling your maternity session before 34 weeks, so we don't schedule too close to your due date. (If you're over 34 weeks, no worries, I will do my best to get you in!) This session is kept to 30 minutes and can be done with your partner and children. Depending on the time of year, we can do these photos in the comfort of your own home, outdoors at sunset, or at a local indoor location.
During your maternity session I will gently pose you and your partner. I aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible in front of the camera. If I'm quiet, it's because I am just capturing you in the moment and you're doing things right!
My goal is to capture the emotions that you're feeling as you get ready to welcome your little love.
Newborn Photos
Newborn sessions are 90 minutes and always done in the comfort of your own home. You can schedule yours up to three months before your due date. (Scheduling is flexible, for our late arrivals and if any other complications should arise.) Typically your newborn will be photographed within two weeks of birth. If you're feeling late to the party, don't fret. Even at a month or two old, your baby can be photographed and they are still so tiny.
My newborn sessions are kept very simple so we can show the uniqueness of your child. I will bring just a few neutral wraps, blankets and posing bean bag for some solo shots of your baby. Your session will include a variety of photos, including photos with parents, siblings and alone.
For your session, I will need a minimum of one naturally lit space in your home. (Most choose the nursery, sofa, or main bedroom for newborn photos). Your space doesn't need to be super clean or perfect but it does help to move any clutter out of the way. On the day of your session you can prepare by bumping up the heat slightly if it's chilly, dressing your baby in just a swaddle and clean diaper and having a feed before I arrive. Sometimes it helps to have a noise machine or shusher, and a pacifier on hand to relax your baby.
If you're not sure how to dress for your session, please reach out.

When should I schedule a maternity session?
Your maternity session should be done before 34 weeks. There isn't a magic date but more of when you're still feeling good and your bump is ready to be shown off.
Can my other kids be in my maternity & newborn photos?
Absolutely! They should be included in these special moments. For the newborn session, I do ask that siblings are only in the room when needed in the photos to keep a calm environment.
What kind of posing do you do with newborns?
I will gently pose your newborn in safe positions on my newborn bean bag or right in your arms. I will bring some neutral wraps and blankets, but you're always welcome to use your own swaddles and anything else that is special to you. I want to photograph your newborn as naturally as possible.
I do not:
Pose your baby in unsafe positions.
Bring props.
What if my home isn't Pinterest perfect for my session?
After photographing newborns for a few years, I can assure you that most of our homes are modest and well lived in. Your home doesn't even need to be cleaned before I come over. I just ask that we have one or two spots cleared off that have decent window lighting. I am focusing my camera on you and your baby.
I want to do newborn photos but I'm worried about germs coming into our home.
I am happy to mask up in your home if it gives you peace of mind. If I even have the sniffles, I will make plans to reschedule your session. I take your little one's brand new immune system very seriously.
How far in advance should I schedule my newborn session?
I can book your newborn session three months out. This will take away the stress of finding a photographer while you're soaking in your precious baby. Once your little one arrives simply contact me and we will nail a date and time at your convenience.
